Mattituck’s Love Lane Market now open

The new Love Lane Market quietly opened its doors August 5, after a springtime of construction snags, and is now offering fresh meats, pizza and specialty food products in a freshly renovated space next door to the Mattituck Post Office.

The space was designed by architect Chris Smith, a world-renowned restaurant designer, and is owned by Michael and Patti Avella, who own the Love Lane Kitchen next door.

The market’s new manager, Siran Libretto, has spent the summer scouring the world and the neighborhood for specialty foods. She’s a graduate of the School of Visual Arts who worked in the movie industry before opening a clothing store in Greenport and then switching her focus from clothes to food at her new job.

In an interview earlier this summer, she said that the shop will be one of the few places where people can buy beef from vineyard owner Russ McCall’s herd of Charolais cows in Cutchogue, as well as vegetables grown at local farms exclusively for the market. She is also working with Italian purveyors to provide products that are difficult to find locally.

The shop has already stocked a wide range of Italian specialty meats and antipasto ingredients, as well as gluten free products and is adding more stock to the shelves each day.
