Southold Police make a trio of weekend arrests

A New Windsor, NY, teenager was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Sunday night after a police officer on patrol just after 9 p.m. noticed a suspicious vehicle at the end of Sixth Street in Greenport, according to police reports.

Police said that as they approached the car its occupants began to spray air freshener in the vehicle in an attempt to hide the smell of marijuana. Police said that Joseph Shedrick, 17, who was in the car, was in possession of three marijuana joints and a small bag of marijuana. He was taken to headquarters, processed and released on an appearance ticket.

An alleged cookie dough thief was arrested by Southold Town Police after a report of shoplifting at the Handy Pantry in Mattituck Sunday afternoon. Police said that William E. Ronayne, 19, of Middle Village, NY, was identified as the perpetrator by store employees, who reportedly caught him trying to leave the store without paying for the cookie dough. He was charged with petit larceny, taken to headquarters, processed and released on cash bail.

Scott Anderson, 24, of Mattituck, was charged with aggravated DWI at 1:20 a.m. Monday, after he was stopped for speeding on Route 25 in Cutchogue, according to police. Mr. Anderson was taken to headquarters and held overnight for arraignment.
