Tuesday morning storm leads to 287 more outages in Southold Town

One day after all Long Island Tropical Storm Irene-related power outages were restored, 287 Southold Town homes and businesses are once again powerless following a Tuesday morning storm, the Long Island Power Authority states on its website.

LIPA was expected to have 99 percent of Irene-related outages restored yesterday — eight days after the tropical storm knocked out power for a half million Long Islanders — though a spokesperson said crews had restored power to all residents as of 7 p.m. Sunday.

On Tuesday morning, Southold Town had the second highest amount of outages of the five East End towns. A total of 11,000 LIPA customers are effected across Long Island.

Meanwhile,  a flash flood watch has been issued for the area due to the effects of Tropical Cyclone Lee.

Residents can either call 1-800-490-0075 or visit www.lipower.org via a mobile device to report an outage.
