North Fork Alliance awarded $625K federal grant

The Long Island Network of Community Service has been awarded a grant by the Drug Free Communities program for its North Fork Alliance Coalition. LINCS will receive $125,000 per year for the next five years, the only new Long Island-based program to be awarded the funding.

The Drug Free Communities program is directed by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

The alliance works with local school districts in presenting programs and providing educational materials to assist school officials and parents in keeping children drug free.

“Efforts to keep our youth drug free are critical to healthy and safe communities here on the North Fork,” according to Jennifer Fazio, LINCS project director for the alliance. The funding will allow the alliance to mobilize the community to prevent and reduce substance abuse, she said.
