Southold-Peconic: St. Patrick Church to sponsor golf outing, Sept. 27

Southold Fire Department’s 125th anniversary celebration was a big success, judging from those who came to partake in the various festivities. Thanks to all who helped to make this event possible.

Newly crowned ‘big brother’ Brendan Boyle was strolling the fire department grounds sporting his birthday crown. He turned 2 on Sept. 17.

David Surozenski Jr. received the prestigious St. Agnes Medal of Honor at a prayer service at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre last weekend. One individual or couple from each of the diocese’s 133 parishes is nominated by the pastors for their donation of time and talent to the parish. David is a member of Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue.

Happy anniversary to David and Monica Surozenski, who celebrated 33 years of marriage on the 17th, Patrice and Michael Conklin toasted 30 fun-filled years on the 19th, and Connie and Joe Sawicki celebrate their years together on the 28th.

Happy birthday to Sarah Sinning who celebrates Sept. 22; Janine Bakanic on the 25th; Justin Mann, who blows out one candle on the 26th; my daughter Nicole Sinning, also on the 26th; and Chris Manfredi Jr. on the 28th.

St. Patrick Church will sponsor a golf outing on Sept. 27 at Cherry Creek, beginning with registration and lunch at 11 a.m. The entry fee is $125 per player or $700 per foursome. Dinner only is $25. Call 765-3442 to reserve your space.
Southold Sunshine Society’s hospital equipment closet is in need of replenishing. Wheelchairs with leg extensions and commodes, shower benches and chairs are all needed. The society loans these and other items to those who have a temporary need for them. Call Peggy Murphy at 765-3598 or Gayle Kaplan at 765-1578 to arrange pickup.

Crisp fall days lend themselves to outdoor sporting events. This Saturday, Sept. 24, the Southold High School boys’ soccer team will play its homecoming game against Pierson at 11 a.m. The alumni game will be played at around 1:30 p.m. Those interested in playing can go to southoldufsd.net and click on “alumni annual game” or call 765-6069.
Open house for Southold elementary students in grades 4-6 will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at the elementary school.

The Southold Presbyterian Women will hold their last barn sale of the year this Saturday, Sept. 24, from 8 a.m. to noon. For every $5 sale, $1 will be taken off. All proceeds benefit East End charities.

The Southold Indian Museum will hold a craft and yard sale this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 25.
