Greenport woman arrested on drug charges following search

A 26-year-old Greenport woman was arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug charges Wednesday morning, after police executed a search warrant at her Carpenter St. home and found crack cocaine, marijuana and drug scales in the house, according to a press release from the Southold Town Police.

Police said that Charmaine N. Freeman was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, one count of criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth degree, one count of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree and one count of unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force and the Southold Town Police Department conducted the search at about 6:30 a.m., along with the Suffolk County Police Department Emergency Services Unit and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Canine Unit.

Ms. Freeman was taken to Southold Town Police headquarters and held for arraignment in Southold Town Justice Court.
