Sept. 22 Suffolk Times newspapers are back on newsstands

Copies of the The Suffolk Times and Riverhead News-Review Sept. 22 editions are back on the shelves.

In response to a newspaper shopping spree reportedly by two people who traversed the North Fork on Thursday and Friday, buying as many copies of the newspapers as possible, parent company Times/Review Newsgroup had another 5,500 copies printed Friday afternoon.

They were being delivered to vendors across the coverage area, from Wading River to Orient, Friday night and throughout the day on Saturday.

It was not clear what had motivated the paper-buying frenzy, or if it would continue through the weekend.

Times/Review publisher Andrew Olsen said, “We do have our suspicions as to who is behind this, but if it’s someone attempting to somehow silence our coverage or make an uncomfortable story go away, they’re wasting their time and their money. We will not be silenced.”
