Natalie Volpe

Former Southold resident Natalie Volpe died Sept. 24 at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenport. She was 88.

She was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Brooklyn, to Vincenzo and Maria (Piaone) Laria. She married Joseph Volpe on June 6, 1947, at Church of Our Lady of Peace in Brooklyn and was a homemaker for most of her adult life.

Family members said she was devoted to them and enjoyed cooking, crocheting and praying the rosary every day.

Predeceased by her husband in 1995, Ms. Volpe is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Ann Musto of Greenport, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will take place Tuesday, Sept. 27, 7 to 9 p.m., at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. Father Thomas Murray will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. Interment will be at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
