A small ceremony was held on the front lawn of Greenport School Friday morning to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Local first responders, Greenport’s mayor David Nyce, and members of the JROTC were among those in attendance.

Secondary school principal Leonard Skuggevik and Mayor Nyce gave short speeches after which the flag was risen to half-mast and a memorial wreath was placed at the base of the flagpole.

Mr. Skuggevik led the assembly in singing ‘God Bless America.’
