Today in sports: Mattituck boys soccer team looks to make it three straight

GARRET MEADE FILE PHOTO | Mattituck forward Javier Mynor leads the Tuckers against Wyandanch today.

It’s been nearly a week since the Mattituck boys soccer team last played a game. It was a game worth remembering. The Tuckers defeated Sayville 2-0 on the road.

The Golden Flashes lost only once last year en route to the Class A state championship. Sayville is back atop League V to start this season with a 3-0 record.

The Tuckers return to the field today against a divisional foe in Wyandanch. The game beings at 4:30 p.m. Mattituck has outscored its opponents 8-0 over the last two games. On homecoming night Sept. 23 the Tuckers scored six in a shutout over McGann-Mercy.

The Tuckers have three shutouts so far this season.
