Featured Events: Riverhead store wants you to ‘drop your pants’

Pieceful Quilting in Riverhead is holding a charity event called “Drop Your Pants” in an effort to collect new underwear for needy local adults and children.

Store employee Colleen Taylor said the event was created because new underwear is in high demand at local domestic violence support groups.

“We understand from talking to people at The Retreat, Siena House and VIBES that underwear is something they don’t get a lot of,” she said. “This is a way to help them and to help children ripped from their homes with only the clothes on their back.”

You can drop off new underwear at the Riverhead store, located at 31 McDermott Ave., during the week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The charity event runs through Nov. 12. For more information, call (631) 727-5909.
