Slow Food restaurant crawl set for downtown Riverhead

Slow Food East End is holding a restaurant crawl in downtown Riverhead on Oct. 30

Participants are invited to wear Halloween costumes as they stop at restaurants and art galleries for bites and beverages along East Main Street in Riverhead.

Those participating should meet at 5 p.m. the East End Arts Gallery, where they’ll be served cheese from Riverhead’s Goodall Farm and wine from Lenz Winery in Peconic, while viewing works judged Best in Show at recent art competitions.

They’ll then stop at the Dark Horse Restaurant for local appetizers and pumpkin martinis, and then at Athens Grill for more appetizers paired with Leib Family Cellars wine.

Main courses will be served at the Riverhead Project Restaurant, and the evening will end with dessert in the lobby of the Suffolk Theater. Participants will get ice cream float desserts made with Long Ireland Porter from Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe as well as cookies made by the Suffolk County Community College culinary arts students who bake at The Baker’s Workshop just west of the Suffolk Theater.

Admission is $65 for Slow Food members and $80 for non-members. Space is limited. Call (631) 734-6100 to reserve a spot on a first-come, first-served basis.
