Mattituck School District to host anti-bullying speaker

On the heels of Mattituck-Cutchogue School District’s recent focus on standing up to bullying during National Bully Prevention Month in October, the district will host a speaker next Tuesday who will help parents understand bullying and the special needs child.

The Mattituck-Cutchogue PTA’s special education committee is sponsoring the talk by Ed Nickewicz, Esq., to be held in the Cutchogue East Elementary School Library on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.

Mr. Nickewicz is an education law attorney with the personal injury firm of Sanders, Sanders, Block, Woycik, Viener & Grossman in Mineola, and he is also the father of an autistic son.

Mr. Nickewicz, who lectures widely on education issues for special needs children, will discuss the dangers of bullying, how to recognize the signs that a child is a bully, and how to recognize the specific threats toward special needs children who are the victims of bullies.
