Aquilo Downs Muir

Longtime East Marion resident Aquilo Downs Muir died Sept. 22 at Riverhead Care Center. She was 98.

Ms. Muir, known as Sis, grew up in Aquebogue and graduated from the State University of New York Teachers College at New Paltz. She was a teacher at East Marion School and later worked at the East Marion post office. She attended the local Baptist church for many years and lived briefly in Riverhead with her husband, Abbot, who predeceased her. Her brother, Jim, also predeceased her.

Ms. Muir is survived by her nieces, Marcia Rambo of Aquebogue and Jill Muir of Orient.
