Greenport teen arrested for Mitchell Park assault

A Greenport teenager was arrested on assault charges just after 11 p.m. on Saturday, after he allegedly punched another teenager in the face in Mitchell Park in Greenport, according to police reports.

Police said the 16-year-old split open the lip of another teen his age, who was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital with a cut on his lower lip that required 11 stitches.

Police responded to the hospital to take a statement from the victim, and the next day arrested the young man who threw the punch, took him to headquarters for processing and released him on cash bail.
