Achievements

• Chelsea Peragallo of Mattituck earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Boston University in September 2011.

• Monica Malcomson of Mattituck was named to the spring 2011 honor roll at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. She also achieved honor roll at Granada University in Spain, where she studied during the summer. In October, she competed with the Sacred Heart team in the ISI Figure Skating Championships. The team took first place, with Monica as its high scorer.

• Maximilian Spielmann of Cutchogue has enrolled in the study program SEA Semester in Woods Hole, Mass, while away from his studies at Cornell University. He has completed the program’s six-week shore component, earning academic credits in oceanography, nautical science and maritime studies. He also developed a research project that he will conduct during his six weeks at sea aboard the program’s 134-foot school vessel, which will travel from San Diego, Calif., to Hawaii.

• William Moore of Southold earned an associate degree in automotive technology in May 2011 from the SUNY College of Technology at Delhi.

• Peter Olsen-Harbich of Mattituck was recently named an Edgar Fellow in the honors program at SUNY/Geneseo, where he is a sophomore.

• Seaman Orion Verity recently graduated from the Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J., having completed an eight-week curriculum including academics, seamanship, water safety and survival, fire fighting, marksmanship, core Coast Guard values and more. A 2008 graduate of Mattituck High School, he is the son of Susanna Rudder of Cutchogue and John Verity of Southold.
