Paul Passanant died Oct. 21 at his home in Florida. He was 48.
He was born June 7, 1963, in Rockville Centre to Helen and Richard Passanant. He grew up in North Bellmore and, from the age of 7, spent summers at the family’s home in Orient.
Mr. Passanant was a self-employed house painter in Florida, where he had lived for 20 years.
Family members said he always remained true to his Long Island roots and upbringing and had a youthful exuberance and joy for life. He often returned to Orient for family gatherings, they said, where he enjoyed boating, fishing and kayaking.
Predeceased by his father, Mr. Passanant is survived by his mother; his brothers, James, of Stony Brook, John, of Astoria, and Thomas, of Southold; and his sister, Jeanne, of Wellesley, Mass.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport, the Rev. Thomas Murray officiating.
