Brush fire extinguished in Mattituck

The Mattituck Fire Department quickly extinguished a brush fire on Lloyd’s Lane Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters received the call just before 2  p.m. and had nearly extinguished the fire just 20 minutes later, said  firefighters on the scene hosing down the smoldering remains of leaves burning in an empty lot on a cul de sac at the end of the Soundfront road.

No one was home at a nearby house and no one was hurt, firefighters said.
