Goehringer elected Mattituck Park District commissioner

Gerard Goehringer, who served for 30 years as a Mattituck Park District commissioner before stepping down in 2007, is heading back to the board.

Running his third race in as many years, Mr. Goehriner defeated Frank Polistena 202 to 105 in Thursday’s district election. Two years after stepping down, Mr. Goehringer ran unsuccessfully in 2009 against Charles Zaloom and again last year against Nicholas Deegan. He will replace Doris McGreevy, who decided against seeking reelection this year.

In the three-way race to replace district treasurer John Cushman, Steve Brautigam won with 112 votes, defeating Shelley Maddaloni, 92, and Erica Wells, 83.

Mr. Cushman, the Southold town comptroller, has served as treasurer since 1991.

Mr. Brautigam and Mr. Deegan both ran unsuccessfully for town office in Tuesday’s elections. Mr. Brautigam sought a Town Trustee position and Mr. Deegan was a Town Board candidate.
