Johnathan and Cathrine Schmanski will be listening to Journey’s “Faithfully” when they come together for the ceremonial first dance at Brecknock Hall in Greenport this evening.

The song was chosen by 58 percent of readers in a survey published on The Suffolk Times and Riverhead News-Review websites this week.

In addition to the first dance, Times/Review readers also selected the bridal party entrance song, with 37 percent voting for the winner, “Walk this Way” by Run DMC.

The couple, both of whom serve in the U.S. Army, fell in love at a military base in Germany in 2009 and got hitched at a Justice of the Peace court in Arizona last year. Only a handful of friends could attend, and the two wished they could have had a large wedding ceremony with all of their family members.

Their dream came true when they were chosen by Peconic Landing to receive a free wedding celebration through the first-ever Brecknock Veterans Day Wedding Giveback.

Nearly two-dozen local businesses are donating everything for the big day, from the food, wine and wedding cake to the gown, makeup and limousine.

Many of the wedding details have been hand-picked by Times/Review readers, from the menu items to the bride’s hairdo.

The wedding ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. on the front lawn at the historic mansion on Route 25.
