Do you have any ideas you’d like to share with the incoming county executive?

Then visit suffolkcountyworksforyou.com where residents can submit suggestions as well as keep informed on Suffolk County Executive-elect Steve Bellone’s transition process. Mr. Bellone, who defeated his Republican opponent Angie Carpenter for the position earlier this month, will take office January 1.

“Traveling our county, I understand that most good ideas come from outside government,” Mr. Bellone, the current Babylon Town supervisor, stated in a press release. “That is why I want each and every Suffolk County resident to serve on my transition team.”

Mr. Bellone has named Regina Calcaterra, a New Suffolk resident, Manhattan lawyer and foster care advocate, to his transition team as well as Babylon Town Councilman Antonio Martinez.

The County Executive-elect will be hosting meetings throughout the county to receive feedback from residents. He plans to host a meeting on the economy in conjunction with the Long Island Alliance and other business organizations, as well as a meeting on diversity to be held in Brentwood. Information on those meetings will be announced on Mr. Bellone’s website.

He said he has met with incumbent county executive Steve Levy and has also pledged not to increase staff in the county executive office.

“This transition is not only an opportunity to hit the ground running, it sets the tone for my administration and we must work to save taxpayer dollars and to do more with less,” he said.
