Greenport: All-class Greenport reunion proposed

So much news this week. I’m going to get right to it!

San Simeon by the Sound’s fundraising trip to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun in Connecticut is this Sunday, Dec. 4, via the 10 a.m. Sea Jet ferry from Orient. Tickets are $25. Call San Simeon at 477-2110 or Paula Thorp at 477-2392.

He’s always been one of my favorite people, so I’m glad to report that good things are happening to Tim McLaughlin. Tim, a recent Boston College graduate, is now an assistant basketball coach at Wentworth, a D III school in the Boston area. Way to go, Tim!

Congratulations are also in order for Keith Baker of East Marion. He hooked one heck of a good woman when he proposed to my cousin Rose Heaney and she said yes! I wish them a lifetime of blessings and all things good.

Tom Krumenacker had a good idea and I’m running with it. He’s proposing an all-class Greenport reunion, meaning that if you graduated from GHS, you’re invited. He’d like to gauge response to this venture, so if you’re interested, please visit Tom’s website, ghsclassreunion.com, and let him know.

Jacob Thorp is in the midst of his Eagle Scout project and could use some help. He’s replacing decking, handrails and a ramp at Poquatuck Hall in Orient and needs to raise between $1,500 and $1,700 to complete the project. If you can contribute to the cause, please send Jacob a check payable to “Troop 51-Jacob Thorp Eagle Scout Project” c/o Troop 51, 857 Main St., Greenport, NY 11944.

Reminder: Call Vicky and Don Insull at 765-4077 if you’d like to join the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church trip to Woodloch Pines in Pennsylvania.

If there’s anything you need for the Christmas season, be sure to check out the ELIH Opportunity Shop in the Adams Street parking lot. Jean Wetmore tells me they have everything there and at discounted prices to boot. The Op Shop is open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
