Barbara A. Leonard

Barbara A. Leonard of Southold died at the Riverhead Care Center on Nov. 5, 2011. She was 73 years old.

She was born in Jamaica, N.Y., on April 9, 1938, to Edwin R. and Anna (née Wetzel) Horton. A resident of the North Fork since the age of 6, she was a graduate of Southold High School. In 1960, she married Martin J. Leonard in Southold, where they made their home until his passing in 1975.

Barbara was a communicant of St. Patrick R.C. Church and a member of the Griswold Terry Glover Post No. 803 American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen M. Finne, Margaret Leonard-Loper and Donna K. Leonard; five grandchildren, Joseph M. Loper, Scott E. Loper, Katherine A. Loper, Leigh Anne Finne and Daniel Bridge; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah Snipes and Amelia Jacobs.

The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 11, at 9 a.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. that morning at St. Patrick R.C. Church by Father Peter Garry. Interment will follow at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.
