It’s been a thrilling start to the postseason for the Mattituck boys soccer. It started with a 2-1 upset over previously unbeaten Southampton in the first round and continued with a 2-1 win Saturday over Center Moriches for the Class B county title.

Today the Tuckers look to keep the ride going with a rematch of last year’s Long Island Championship when they face Nassau champion Wheatley (12-3-2) at 5 p.m. at Diamond in the Pines. The Tuckers won 3-2 against Wheatley last year in a game they led 2-0. Wheatley came back to tie the game before the Tuckers got a second straight game-winning goal from Andres Aldaz.

Mattituck (11-6-1) will be playing for its third Long Island title in five years. A win would send the Tuckers to a Regional Final between either Section I or Section IX Saturday.

Two wins still stand in the way of the Tuckers reaching their first Final Four since 2007.

Wheatley hasn’t given up a goal in its last four games, including playoff wins over Oyster Bay and Cold Spring Harbor.
