John E. Bokina Sr.

John E. Bokina Sr. died Dec. 8 at his home in Peconic. He was 68.

He was born June 21, 1943, at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport to Vincent and Jennie (Wolosik) Bokina. Mr. Bokina was a farmer, and worked for the Suffolk County Department of Parks until his retirement.

He was a long-standing, active member of the Republican Club. Family members said he enjoyed cutting firewood, mowing his lawn and growing tomatoes.

He is survived by his daughter, Stacey Marczewski; his son, John Bokina Jr.; his sister, Dorothy Kotylak; his brother, Henry Bokina; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, Cecelia, Vincent Jr., Edmond, Joseph and Theodore.

Visiting hours will take place today, Friday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A service will be held tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church, followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, both in Cutchogue.
