Cops: Greenport store owner arrested for striking neighbor

A co-owner of the Greenport Tea Company was arrested Tuesday afternoon after she allegedly struck the owner of the neighboring Butta’ Cakes bakery in the face “several times,” according to police reports.

Police said Marc Lamaina, 31, of Orient, was struck by Jenette Holloway, 55, of Orient at 2:51 p.m. at her shop on Tuesday.

Mr. Lamaina told police Ms. Holloway was upset with him because he was hanging “For Rent” signs in the windows of her business. Mr. Lamaina said his mother owns the building shared by both stores  and requested that he put the signs in the windows because Ms. Holloway owes rent, police said.

Ms. Holloway was charged with harassment, a violation, taken to headquarters, processed and released on cash bail.
