Frank, most beloved husband of Vallaire for 63 years and adored father of Susan and Glenn (Jennifer) and two grandchildren, Melinda and Maria.

Frank moved with his family to Long Island when he was 2 years old. He graduated from Hempstead High School, where he excelled in track and football under legendary coach Joe Fey.

He was a very proud Coast Guard veteran and served aboard the USS Samuel Chase. After the war, he attended New York University. Frank was a founding member of the East End Livestock and Horseman’s Association and served as its first president. He was a member of Island’s End Golf Club and served three terms on its board of directors. An active member of Post 803 American Legion, he leaves a host of wonderful friends and family.

Frank was the administrator of the Plumbers Local No. 200 before retiring. He also served as a member of the Nassau County Mounted Guard and was a founding member of the Baldwin Fire Department.

Frank was an outstanding lover of animals and rescued many horses to help restore them to health. Many will remember Frank on his horse in Southold’s parades.

According to his wishes, there will be no viewing and he will be cremated. Graveside services with U.S. Coast Guard honors will take place Saturday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at Brookville Cemetery in Brookville, L.I. Family and friends may gather at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold at 9 a.m.
