Frank Mealy

Frank Mealy passed away Nov. 23, 2011, at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport from complications of heart disease.

He was born Sept. 1, 1936, in Goochland, Va., to the Rev. Aubrey Mealy Sr. and Rosa Gray Mealy. The family moved to Southold in the 1940s, where he spent the majority of his life.

After graduating from Southold High School, he served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. He married Eleanor Etheridge in 1962 and was the father of four children: Kelli Mealy, Tanya Mealy Cafarella, Frank Mealy and Kyle Mealy; and grandfather to two grandchildren: Ciara and Dominic Cafarella. He is also survived by six siblings: three brothers, Aubrey Jr., Otha and Wendell Mealy; and three sisters, Bernice Daniels, Cornelia Finney and Priscilla Mealy.

He had worked as a clerk and driver for the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, retiring in 2008.

Funeral services were held at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold by the Rev. Marvin Dozier. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.

Frank was dearly loved and will be in our hearts forever.
