Man airlifted to Stony Brook following Mattituck crash

A Patchogue man who police said caused a collision in Mattituck Monday night was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Lyndell Taylor, 56, was driving southbound on Love Lane and when crossing Route 48 failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Amanda Grell, 22, of Coram and the two collided at about 6:20 p.m., town police said.

Mr. Taylor was flown to Stony Brook in a Suffolk County Police helicopter. The Mattituck Fire Department rescue squad brought Ms. Grell to Peconic Bay Medical Center, also for non-life threatening injuries.
