Boys Basketball: Burst off bench by Walker propels Southold
FIRST SETTLERS 59, BEARS 47
Freshman guard Liam Walker came off the bench to score 8 of his 12 points in the third quarter to help Southold register a 59-47 Suffolk County League VIII boys basketball win over The Stony Brook School on Thursday night.
After the Bears (2-2, 1-1) grabbed a 32-28 lead on a pair of three-point shots by Tyler Abrahamsen, Walker downed three consecutive baskets within 68 seconds to restore the First Settlers (2-4, 2-0) to a 34-32 advantage.
After Stony Brook equalized again, senior guard Winston Wilcenski sank a three-point for a 37-34 lead the hosts never relinquished. Wilcenski scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while senior guard Kyle Clausen added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Southold will visit Bridgehampton on Tuesday.
