Achievements

• Christina Rizzo of Cutchogue has received a Lyceum Scholarship from SUNY/Binghamton, where she is a student.

• Marine Corps Pfc. Brandon Damiani, a 2011 graduate of Mattituck High School, recently graduated from basic training at the Parris Island, S.C., Recruit Depot. He completed physical conditioning and classroom programs, as well as field training in marksmanship, weapons, hand-to-hand combat, first aid and more.

• Katherine Moore of Southold has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 quarter at Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia.

• Justin Severini of Greenport graduated in December 2011 from York College of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and leisure administration.

• Senior Airman Joseph Tandy of Mattituck recently completed Airman Leadership School at McGhee-Tyson Air National Guard Base in Tennessee. He is affiliated with the Air National Guard’s 106th Rescue Wing at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton.

• Emily Demarest of Orient has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester at Cazenovia (N.Y.) College, where she is a freshman pursuing a degree in interior design.

• Connor Corridan, son of Denis and Sharon Corridan of Mattituck, has earned a degree in marketing from the University of San Diego and is now working in business development and graphic design at Internet Marketing Inc. in San Diego. Connor graduated from Mattituck High School in 1997.

• Julia Petersen of Cutchogue has been awarded an American Dream scholarship at SUNY/Binghamton.

• Colleen Schutt, a 2011 Mattituck High School graduate, has earned a place on the fall 2011 dean’s list at Johnson & Wales University, where she is a first-year culinary arts student.

• Kevin McMahon of Mattituck has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester at the University of New Haven in Connecticut.

• Christopher Kar of Cutchogue has graduated magna cum laude from Clemson University in South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in management.

• Peter Olsen-Harbich of Mattituck has earned a place on the fall 2011 president’s list at SUNY/Geneseo.

• Megan Ross of Mattituck and Rachel Taplin of Southold have both been named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Geneseo.

• Four local students have been named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/New Paltz: Elizabeth Petersen of Cutchogue, an early childhood/childhood education major; Kelsey Russell of Southold, a psychology major; Jake Snyder of Southold, also majoring in psychology; and Alexis Wright of Mattituck, whose major is geology.

• Holly Sponza, daughter of Amie and Frank Sponza of Greenport, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester at the University of Connecticut, where she is a freshman.
