Achievements: Local students earn honors

• Conor Corridan, son of Denis and Sharon Corridan of Mattituck, has earned a degree in marketing from the University of San Diego and is now working in business development and graphic design at Internet Marketing Inc. in San Diego. Conor graduated from Mattituck High School in 2007.

• Thomas Roslak, an alumnus of Southold High School and SUNY/Stony Brook, has earned a Ph.D. in engineering systems from Leeds Metropolitan University in the U.K., in conjunction with Farmingdale University. The son of Tom and Lois Roslak of Cutchogue, he is employed as chief strategy officer and corporate VP at Aeroflex Microelectronic Systems.

• Linda Knoernschild of Peconic has been named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Stony Brook, where she is majoring in psychology.

• Erin Mulrain, daughter of Ed and Jane Mulrain of Mattituck, has been named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Cortland, where she is a physical education major.

• Emily Comando of Cutchogue has earned a place on the fall 2011 dean’s list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, N.Y. Emily, a freshman education major, is the daughter of Debra and David Comando.

• Connor Davis, son of Tracy and Glenn Davis of Cutchogue, has been named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Cortland, where he is majoring in physical education.

• Karl Cutler of Mattituck has made the fall semester dean’s list at Virginia Military Academy in Lexington, Va., where he is a history major.

• Michael Arnone of Southold has been placed on the fall 2011 dean’s commendation list for outstanding achievement at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania.

• Corie Clark of Southold has earned a place on the fall 2011 dean’s list at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., for the fall semester of 2011.

• John Dunne of Southold has been named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at SUNY Maritime College, where he is a sophomore majoring in marine transportation and naval science.

• Anthony Nichols of Greenport and Kevin Parma of Peconic have been named to the fall 2011 president’s list at Western New England University in Springfield, Mass. Anthony, a freshman, is majoring in electrical engineering. Kevin is a sophomore accounting and finance major.

• Emily Bredemeyer of Orient has earned a place on the fall 2011 dean’s list at Syracuse University, where she is a sophomore majoring in music industry.

• Matthew Flotteron of Cutchogue and Robert Kraebel of Southold have been named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at the University of Vermont in Burlington. Matthew is a sophomore at UVM’s school of business administration, which is his major. Robert is a sophomore Spanish major in the college of arts and sciences.

• Lauren Carlson of Mattituck has been admitted to the Class of 2015 at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in Alabama. A 2007 graduate of Mattituck High School, Lauren earned a bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College in 2011.

• Christina Stankewicz of Peconic has earned a place on the fall 2011 dean’s list at St. Bonaventure (N.Y.) University, where she is a sophomore history major.

• Abbe Clark of Southold has been named to the dean’s list for fall 2011 at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. She is a senior majoring in biochemistry and cell and molecular biology.

• Four local students have earned dean’s list honors at SUNY/Oneonta for the fall 2011 semester: Samantha Berry of Southold, Frank Krupski of Laurel, Marvin Rodriguez of Greenport and Carolyn Wells of East Marion. Mr. Rodriguez was also named to the Provost’s list for achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA.

• Michael Ferris, Courtney Italia and Antonia Martinez, all of Mattituck, have earned places on the fall 2011 dean’s list at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn.

• Kathryn Scott of Southold has achieved dean’s list honors for the fall 2011 semester at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Pa., where she is a freshman.

• Jessica Lott of Greenport graduated from SUNY/Oneonta during a December 2011 recognition ceremony. She is eligible to participate in the college’s traditional commencement in May.

• Courtney Birkmier of Cutchogue has been placed on the dean’s list at SUNY/Cortland for the fall 2011 semester.

• Ivy Croteau of Southold has achieved a 4.0 GPA in her first semester at Smith College in Northampton, Mass. The recipient of a four-year Stride Research Scholarship, she is pursuing research in the college’s American Studies department.

• Cara Benedetto of Mattituck has earned a place on the fall 2011 dean’s list at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa. A sophomore majoring in equi-business, she graduated from Mattituck High School in 2010.
