After riding on 3 wheels through Cutchogue, driver hit with a DWI

A Southold man had little to celebrate Saturday night, spending the last hours of 2011 and the first hours of 2012 in a jail cell awaiting arraignment on a drunk driving charge, according to police.

It was far from an average DWI case with the driver found hiding under a tractor trailer after fleeing from a crash and driving a half mile on only 3 wheels, Southold police reported.

Police said Enver Zorluoglu, 34,  was involved in an accident at Route 25 and Depot Road that left his vehicle without the driver’s side front tire. Even so, he then drove a half mile before parking between two commercial vehicles on Eugene’s Road in Cutchogue, where he fled on foot, according to reports. He was apprehended a short time later.

Mr. Zorluoglu was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, according to police.
