Amelia A. Smulcheski

Amelia A. Smulcheski died Jan. 16 at her home in Southold. She was 90.

She was born July 30, 1921, in Flushing to John and Katarzyna (Baszczak) Kowal. After graduating from Flushing High School, she married Joseph F. Smulcheski on July 31, 1945. They were communicants of St. Robert Bellarmine in Bayside, Queens.

Ms. Smulcheski was an electrical technician at Grumman Aerospace and, family said, prided herself on working on F-14 jets. Formerly a resident of Commack, she had lived on the North Fork for 30 years.

She is survived by her children, Frances, of High Falls, N.Y., Joyce Demos of East Northport, and James, of Southold; a son-in-law, John Ginty; and two grandchildren, Melissa and Lauren Demos.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Interment will take place Friday, Jan. 20, at 2:15 p.m. at Calverton National Cemetery. The funeral procession will leave DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m.
