Monday Briefing: Get ready for the Egg McMuffin of Super Bowls

Champagne breath.

A lot of folks on the North Fork might have it this morning, as the Giants NFC championship win undoubtedly sent fans from across the area scrambling to their refrigerators and grabbing that last bottle of New Year’s Eve bubbly that never got popped.

Who would have thunk it? Sunday night’s game mimicked the team’s season in a lot of ways. The Giants hit their stride and got their breaks right when it counted most, toward the end. Let’s see if they could keep it going in the Super Bowl; we all know the Patriots will be out for blood after the Giants upset them — and destroyed what could have been a perfect, undefeated season — in the 2007 Super Bowl.

You thought Tebow-mania ruled the airwaves? We’re about to experience two weeks of the most-hyped Super Bowl in most of our lifetimes. Enjoy it.
