Slide show: L.I. Winterfest sizzles at Raphael Vineyards

The kickoff to L.I. Winterfest Jazz on the Vine music series saw tasting rooms from across the North Fork packed this weekend.

We sent Suffolk Times photographer Katharine Schroeder to Raphael Vineyards Saturday in Peconic, where the walls were pulsing with the Afro-Caribbean beat of Papo Vazquez Pirate Troubadors. (See slide show below.)

She even caught up with the son of baseball legend Roberto Clemente, who was enjoying the music.

There are 71 concerts set for this year’s Jazz on the Vine series, the most in the event’s five-year history. Some 6,000 people in total flocked to East End for last year’s concerts, and Winterfest organizers expect that number to grow this year. Tickets to all Winterfest concerts are $15 and include a glass of wine.
