William E. Reed died Feb. 18 at his home in Mattituck. He was 67.
He was born Sept. 27, 1944, in New York City to Helen (Sullivan) and William E. Reed. Raised in Elmhurst and Flushing, Queens, he was a graduate of Holy Cross High School and St. John’s University. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Marines in 1973.
He married Jane Mullady on Sept. 27,1969, in Baldwin, where they lived for 30 years and raised two children. They purchased a house in Mattituck in 1999 and moved there permanently in 2002.
Mr. Reed had been employed by Banker’s Trust, MTA, European American Bank, Goldome Bank, Citibank and AIL Defense Systems, from which he retired in 2001.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Cutchogue and an active member of the Knights of Columbus Marian Council, also in Cutchogue, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight.
Mr. Reed is survived by his wife and his children, Christine, of Long Beach, and Brian, of Crestwood, N.Y., and Southold.
The family received friends Feb. 21 at Fullerton Funeral Home in Baldwin, where a Knights of Columbus memorial service and parish prayer service took place. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Christopher’s R.C. Church in Baldwin. Interment was at Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery in Flushing.
