RECAP: Three Mattituck wrestlers win county titles

GARRET MEADE FILE PHOTO | Mattituck junior Tomasz Filipkowski will wrestle for the 170-pound Division II title this afternoon.

Four Mattituck wrestlers advanced to the Division II finals Saturday afternoon at Stony Brook University and three emerged champions to advance to the state championship in Albany.

Eighth-grader Lucas Webb won the 99-pound title against Jake Palma of Bayport-Blue Point. He won a 3-0 decision.

Defending county champion Tomasz Filipkowski won his second county title by taking down Mario Mayen of Center Moriches, 5-2 at 170. Chris Baglivi won the 195-pound title against Ryan Lewis of Center Moriches, 1-0. An escape point was all he needed to hang on for the title.

Sophomore Brian Pelan wrestled in the 126 finals and lost to Sean Kelly of Babylon.
