Alison O’Reilly began her new job last week as director of the Cutchogue New Suffolk Library’s new director.

Ms. O’Reilly, who has been working in libraries since she was 16, began her career at the library in her hometown of Smithtown.

She received the B.E.S.T. award — which stands for Bringing Excellence in Service by a Teenager— at age 17. It was given by the Suffolk County Library Association.

“Public libraries just got a hold of me and I’ve never let go,” she said. “I love them.”
