Doris Carol Leden

Lifelong Greenport resident Doris Carol Leden died April 29 at her home. She was 78.

She was born Nov. 18, 1933, at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport to Florence (Elton) and Earle William Baker. She married Charles M. Leden on Sept. 11, 1954, in Greenport.

Ms. Leden worked for the North Fork Promotion Council for 10 years and was a volunteer for East End Hospice. She enjoyed playing bingo, family members said.

Predeceased by her husband in 2005 and her son, Jeffery, in 1996, she is survived by her daughters, Claire Monsalve and Cindy, both of East Marion, and Charla Bova of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will take place Thursday, May 3, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A service will be held Friday, May 4, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greenport, the Rev. Paul Wancura officiating. Interment will take place Monday, May 7, at 10 a.m. at Sterling Cemetery in Greenport.
