Cops: Greenport man busted with cocaine

A 26-year-old Greenport man was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after getting caught with cocaine in his pocket early Saturday morning in Greenport, according to Southold Police.

Police said an officer on foot patrol came across three people on the side of a Greenport bar around 2:35 a.m. and found a small brown vial with white powdery substance in it. Police said the officer noticed Kevin L. Smith with his hand in his pocket. The officer checked Smith’s pocket and found he had poured the powder, determined to be cocaine, into his pocket, police said.

Smith was arrested, processed and released on cash bail with a later court date.
