Mary Helen Hardy Frederick

Mary Helen Hardy Frederick of Southold died June 14, 2012, at Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, Md. She was 93 years old.

Born in Greenport, N.Y., on July 13, 1918, to Anna Marie Moran and Luther Hardy, she was a graduate of Greenport High School. On Oct. 20, 1940, she married Donald Frederick in Greenport and together they made their home for many years in Southold, where she was a devoted homemaker.

Helen was a 60-year member of the Southold Homemakers and a member of Southold Presbyterian Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Predeceased by her husband, Donald, she is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Geehreng of Damascus, Md.; a sister, Phyllis Klipp of Southold; three grandchildren: Steven Geehreng of Southold, Daniel Geehreng of Poolesville, Md., and Paul Geehreng of Belgium-USAF; seven great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Jean Tuthill of Shelter Island.

Friends are welcome to call on Friday, June 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Southold, the Rev. Dr. Peter J. Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at Southold Presbyterian Cemetery.
