Police News: 3 DWI charges overnight in Southold Town

Three people were charged with DWI Friday night by Southold Town Police.

Kelly Davis, 51, of Cutchogue, was charged with misdemeanor DWI after she was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Pine Tree Road and Skunk Lane in Cutchogue at midnight, according to police. Ms. Davis was found to be intoxicated at the scene, police alleged. She was taken to police headquarters and held for arraignment.

Bernabe Lopez, 25, of Mattituck was charged with misdemeanor DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to maintain his lane of travel at 9 p.m. Friday, after police received a phone tip of an erratic driver on Wickham Ave. in Mattituck. Mr. Lopez was taken to police headquarters and held overnight for arraignment.

Thomas McCarthy, 48, of Southold was charged with misdemeanor DWI just after 7 p.m. Friday on Route 48 in Peconic. Police said Mr. McCarthy was driving east on Route 48 when he crossed over the white stop line when the light was red at the intersection of Route 48 and Cox Lane. Mr. McCarthy then crossed over the solid yellow line on to the left shoulder of the roadway, said police, who pulled him over and gave him roadside sobriety tests. He failed them, police said, and was taken to headquarters to be held overnight for arraignment.
