Blotter: Engine parts stolen from boat in Southold

A Route 48, Southold resident reported that two Mercury engine heads valued at $400, Mercury engine manifolds valued at $300, and a Mercury engine carburetor worth an estimated $200, were stolen from a boat sometime between February 20 and May 28, according to police.

• A Jamesport man reported a larceny at a Southold business on Route 48 after an American Marine Corps flag and Prisoners of War/Missing in Action pennant, went missing between May 26 and 28, police said. Each flag was valued at $20.

• A Greenport man reported that between May 27 and 29 someone stole a white Honda outboard motor with blue and orange stripes valued at $300 from his boat.

• There was an anonymous report made just after 3 p.m. on May 30 that a person in a white Suburban-type vehicle was sitting across the road from Cutchogue East Elementary School taking photographs of children, police said. The person was gone by the time police arrived and a crossing guard who said they had been there for 10 minutes saw no such vehicle, according to police.

• A Salt Lake Village resident in Mattituck reported the theft of three street signs on the evening of May 30, according to police.

• A Greenport man reported the theft of his prescription glasses valued at $700, car charger cords worth $50 and a $25 charger cord adaptor, from his unlocked 2008 Lexus SUV between 11 p.m. and midnight of May 31, police said.

• A Cutchogue parent reported the theft of his son’s $250 iPod touch from the locker room at Mattituck High School on May 31, according to police. The student said he left his bookbag in the shower room for basketball practice and found the iPod missing afterward, police said.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
