Cops: 62-year-old man dies in motorcycle accident

A motor vehicle accident in Cutchogue Wednesday evening resulted in the death of one man and sent another to the hospital, according to Southold Town Police.

Police said Martin Pastore Jr, 62, of Shirley was driving his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Route 48 when he reportedly collided with a car at the intersection of Depot Lane. The northbound 2003 Mercedes Benz was being driven by Steven Molkentin, 36, of Manorville, police said. Mr. Molkentin attempted to make a left onto Route 48.

Mr. Pastore was air lifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, according to the police report. Mr. Molkentin was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, police said. Both vehicles have been impounded for safety checks, police said.
