Cops: Driver was drunk when she struck tree in Mattituck

A woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after she drove off the roadway and struck a tree on Bergen Avenue in Mattituck shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday night, Southold Town police said.

Investigators indicated Patricia Scheiner, 51, of Yaphank was driving drunk at the time of the crash, police said.

She was arrested and transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and released. She was then taken to police headquarters where she was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
