Cops: Man tried to hide his weed in Greenport

An upstate resident tried to hide marijuana after police observed him as he was about to smoke the drug outside a bar and restaurant on Main Street in Greenport Sunday evening, Southold Town Police said.

David Andrews, 59, was observed trying to hide the drug between his legs as police approached him shortly after 5 p.m, police said. He then handed over the small quantity of marijuana to officers and was arrested, according to police.

He is due back in court at a later date.
