Cops: Man with prior DWI drives drunk, blows red light, crashes into car

A 29-year-old Mattituck man who was arrested for DWI last summer was charged again Saturday night after he blew through a red light and crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Middle Road and Sound Avenue, Southold Town Police said.

Mariusz Pawelski was arrested soon after the Mattituck crash, when he was found to be intoxicated, police said. He suffered minor injures from the accident and was transported to ELIH by Mattituck Rescue, police said. Police did not release any information about the other driver.

ELIH treated and released Mr. Pawelski and he was transported to police headquarters to be processed, police said.

His arrest last summer came after a traffic stop on New Suffolk Road in Cutchogue, according to a previous Suffolk Times report.
