K. Elaine Minnigan

K. Elaine Minnigan of Cutchogue died at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenport on May 30, 2012. She was 91 years old.

She was born in Canaan, N.Y., on June 8, 1920, to William and May E. (Kaiser) Bohnenberg and was a graduate of Lawrence High School.

Upon her marriage to James E. Minnigan in Lawrence, N.Y., they lived in that community until 1983, when they moved to upstate Hollowville. In 2000, she moved to Cutchogue.

Elaine had been a bus driver for Veterans Transportation for 20 years.

In the North Fork community, Elaine was involved with the Eastern Long Island Hospital Auxiliary, the Railroad Museum of Long Island in Greenport, the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council and Southold Seniors and Homemakers. She was also a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Mattituck.

Predeceased by her husband, James, in 1989, she is survived by her son, James E. Minnigan Jr. (Joan) of Shelter Island and many nieces and nephews. Elaine was the sister of Irma Quinion, Anna Marie Ransford, William and Edward.

Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Defriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold.
