Motorcyclist injured after being struck by car in Southold

A motorcyclist was injured Saturday night after he was struck by a car driven by a 72-year-old woman in Southold, town police said.

Gordon Tyrer, 59, of Southold was riding eastbound on Route 25 in Southold when Santina Jamieson, 72, of Bronxville, N.Y. failed to yield the right of way at the South Harbor Road intersection, pulling out in front of Mr. Tyrer and striking his motorcycle, police said.

Mr. Tyrer was injured after he was ejected from the motorcycle. He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Ms. Jamieson was treated for her injuries at Eastern Long Island Hospital.
